Hungry Ghost & Helll

Time Out says

Most groups wait until they've got an album to promote before heading on tour to Japan. Portland trio Hungry Ghost, however, are making their first trip here before they knuckle down in the studio to record their debut LP. It isn't entirely premature: the group's small clutch of recordings to date already provides plenty to get excited about, fusing raw garage rock, funk and psychedelia, with all three members sharing vocal duties. Drummer Sara Lund used to play with fondly remembered '90s post-hardcore act Unwound, but it's guitarist Andrew Price whose connections got the group over here: his old bandmates from weirdo rock act Irving Klaw Trio now live in Tokyo, and will be doing co-headliner duties as part of droney improv unit Helll. The final show of their tour comes with additional support from Portland folk singer MayMay and electronically tweaked songwriter duo Luis Nanook.
