As Dave Konopka from Battles told us earlier this year, Nisennenmondai 'fucking rule.' The all-female trio are steadily refining their brand of stripped-down hypno-rock, using guitar, bass and drums to make soundscapes more redolent of DFA disco and minimal techno. Following a relentless summer gig schedule, they should be well prepared for their upcoming US tour – supporting Battles, natch. Expect there to be some furious nodding – and maybe even the odd bit of genuine dancing – at their latest gig, which is being billed as a 'disco night'.
