No.9 Orchestra

On the MySpace page for his No.9 project, musical polymath Takayuki Joe lists influences including The Beatles, JS Bach, Thelonius Monk, Sly Stone and Ryuichi Sakamoto. Throw all of those names into a blender and this is roughly what you might get: a series of lush, occasionally funky and consistently upbeat soundscapes, which Joe plays both solo and in a larger ensemble format – the 'Orchestra' of the title.
