He's Thundercat's brother and the son of jazz drummer Ronald Bruner Sr, who backed the Temptations, Diana Ross, Gary Bartz and Gladys Knight back in the day, but Ronald Bruner Jr is far more than just another music industry princeling. Having played drums professionally since the age of 15, the LA native became a member of Suicidal Tendencies as a teenager and hasn't looked back since, appearing with everyone from Lee Ritenour to Flying Lotus and Kamasi Washington on the way to releasing his first solo album, Triumph, in March this year. Backed by a five-man band, the younger Bruner now takes on Cotton Club for four gigs in late May.
