Roy Hargrove Quintet

Funk, Latin jazz, gospel: Roy Hargrove has touched down in a number of different genres during his career, but it's in the world of hard bop that the trumpeter shines brightest. Hargrove was tapped for success by Wynton Marsalis while he was still a high schooler, and has since played with artists as diverse as Herbie Hancock, Common and Erykah Badu – not to mention cutting 17 albums of his own. In the Roy Hargrove Quintet, he sticks mainly within the post-bebop tradition, and it makes for a sizzlingly hot live show.
