Held in the concrete expanses of Chiba's QVC Marine Field and Makuhari Messe, a half-hour train ride from Tokyo Station, Summer Sonic makes up in convenience for what it lacks in atmosphere. The lineup for 2016 looks stronger than in years, with headliner Radiohead obviously quite an attraction in itself. We're also happy to welcome post-techno innovators Underworld, alt-rock juggernaut Weezer, Manchester psych outfit Blossoms, remixer-in-chief Mark Ronson and perky indie poppers Two Door Cinema Club, while Fergie from Black Eyed Peas is set to ramp up the pop factor. Tickets are on sale now.
As with previous years, the weekend's festival is preceded by an all-night dance party, Sonicmania, on Friday.
