Clean energy-fueled music festival Synchronicity returns to its old home at Shibuya O-East after last year's foray to Yokohama, for an afternoon of live painting, performance and select sounds from the less gnarly corners of the alternative music scene. Never the most adventurously programmed of events, the fest will this year feature a good number of repeat performers, including sprawling jazz-rock-butoh ensemble Shibusashirazu Orchestra, club jazzers Jabberloop and Cro-Magnon, and electronica wunderkind De De Mouse. It's not all just more of the same-old, though: sophisticated art-pop unit Kimonos, eclectic indie rockers The Band Apart and didgeridoo-powered jam band Goma & The Jungle Rhythm Section will all be making their debut appearances.
