The Flaming Lips

Wayne Coyne and his troupe of mildly bonkers psych-pop troubadours return to Japan in support of their surprisingly bleak new album, The Terror. Anyone expecting a repeat of their carnival-esque show at last year's Metamorphose, be warned: if the Lips' recent SXSW gig was any indication, their new stage show will put less emphasis on man-sized balloons and Wizard of Oz costumes, and more on the brain-frying visuals. Which ain't necessarily a bad thing, mind you. Tickets go on sale on April 27.
