If they're one of the more neglected acts of the original post-punk generation, it hasn't been for want of trying. The Monochrome Set have reunited a few times since their first official split in 1985, and even found an enthusiastic audience in Japan during the nineties. The band – currently consisting of vocalist Ganesh 'Bid' Seshadri, guitarist Lester Square and bassist Andy Warren, plus Scarlet's Well drummer Jennifer Denitto – had to postpone a scheduled tour here last October, but they're making amends now. Support comes from Tokyo's Sloppy Joe, the only Smiths/Aztec Camera tribute band who play nothing but original songs.
