The Zombies

The Zombies had the misfortune of hitting the big time after they'd broken up. Disillusioned by their lack of commercial success (not least in their native UK), the band called it quits after recording psych-pop masterpiece Odessey & Oracle in 1967 – only for one of its songs, 'Time of the Season', to become a massive chart success in the US a couple of years later. Keyboardist and songwriter Rod Argent and singer Colin Blunstone started touring together again in 2001, and revived the Zombies moniker for a poorly received album of new material, As Far as I Can See..., in 2004. They've stuck at it, though, and this year's Breathe Out, Breathe In – credited to 'The Zombies featuring Colin Blunstone & Rod Argent' – was treated more kindly by the critics, even if its bears precious little resemblance to the band's first incarnation. Support from local bands Eight and Nudge 'Em All.

The Zombies are back at Garden on July 10.
