Ethereal and crushingly dense at the same time, Tim Hecker's is some of the heaviest ambient music around. The Montreal-based musician has been crafting his vast catacombs of sound for over 15 years now, to widespread acclaim – 2011's magisterial Ravedeath, 1972 picked up the Juno Award for Electronic Album of the Year – so it's a mystery why it's taken him so long to come to Japan. Fans can finally get a taste of Hecker's immersive live show when he makes his Tokyo debut in June, with an opening set by homegrown ambient maestro (and Time Out fave) Ametsub.
