A neighbourhood in western Tokyo known for its underground music venues, vintage shops and post-punk scene, Koenji's lively independent businesses are at risk following closures under the state of emergency. To help save the neighbourhood, 24 stores, artists and engineers have teamed up to crowdsource donations to help gather operating funds for these small businesses.
On Saturday May 16, Sound Studio DOM will host a music streaming fundraiser with the help of local musicians and DJs to gather funds to save Koenji. Reggae singer Tommy115 and band Punk Rocker Labor Union will perform live, with DJs from Koenji’s Sub Store Tokyo, Studio DOM and The Hang Out spinning music.
