Located in historic Ueno Park, these halls were Tokyo’s classical music mecca in the post-war period. Now more than 40 years old, they were refurbished at the end of the 1990s to make up for ground lost to newer, flashier venues. The main hall is one of the city’s largest, and it is high enough to have four balconies. On the fourth floor of the building is Tokyo’s main music library (open to the public).
