Time Out says

After a hiatus due to Covid-19 coronavirus, Ikebukuro’s classical concert series Tokyo Music Evening Yube has resumed performing to a live audience at Global Ring.

One of the first concerts to feature an audience again will be the performance of Japanese conductor Tomomi Nishimoto and the IlluminArt Philharmonic Orchestra. The orchestra gained worldwide attention when it was chosen by the European Foundation for Support of Culture to premiere one of Maltese composer Alexey Shor’s works in Japan in 2019.

You can look forward to a programme of well-known pieces, including the can-can from Offenbach’s comic opera ‘Orpheus in the Underworld’, Strauss’ ‘Radetzky March’, Tchaikovsky’s ‘Symphony No. 4 Op.36 4th movement’ and special versions of Wagner’s ‘Under the Double Eagle’ and Piazzolla’s ‘Libertango’. If you can’t make it to the concert, the show will be recorded and available for free on Tokyo Music Evening Yube’s official YouTube account.

Being one of the first few outdoor concerts of this series during the ongoing pandemic, seats have been arranged to ensure social distancing and guest numbers are strictly limited. To attend, you’ll have to apply for tickets in advance and admission is limited to Tokyo residents.

Apply between September 11 and September 18 on Tokyo Music Evening Yube's official site.

If the total number of applications exceeds the number of tickets available, tickets will be distributed randomly by lottery.

This project is conducted with the help of Tokyo Tourism Foundation’s initiative ‘Nightlife Tourism Promotion Grant’.
