Time Out says

An annual affair at Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Shibuya, the Tokyo Philharmonic's New Year special returns with concerts on both January 2 and 3. Tetsuro Ban will be taking over conducting duties, while veteran Ikuyo Nakamichi plays the piano. As always, the audience will be invited to choose their favourites from 30 available pieces – a list that includes everything from the overture to Mozart's 'The Marriage of Figaro' to the Star Wars theme. These will then be performed by the less than perfectly prepared orchestra, usually resulting in a wonderfully relaxed afternoon of classical music. Online bookings can be made here, while same-day tickets are sold at the entrance from 2pm – best be there early if you want to grab some.
