Twenty One Pilots

When Time Out interviewed Twenty One Pilots at Fuji Rock last year, they'd only recently scored a record deal on the back of a fervent following in their native Ohio. The duo return to Japan this February with a full-length major label debut under their belts, though the response to Vessel hasn't been quite as ecstatic as the advance hype – including an 'Artist to Watch' nod from MTV – might have suggested. Whatever: even when the group's fusions of Coldplay anthems, pop hooks, indie rap and dubstep don't quite gel, they're still a gloriously entertaining live act.
