He's the man who brought the world acid jazz, but to most Japanese listeners he's the bloke who plays weird shit on J-Wave radio for 15 minutes every weekday. Influential British DJ Gilles Peterson heads to Tokyo on a regular basis, including to host these annual musical revues at Ebisu's Liquidroom. This year's Worldwide Showcase is subtitled 'Love Supreme' – a tribute to saxophone colossus John Coltrane, who would've been celebrating his 85th birthday on September 23. There'll be performances by searingly hot club jazz ensemble Soil & "Pimp" Sessions, saxman Masato Nakamura's newish Masa Sextet and tap dancer Kazunori Kumagai, plus a DJ set by British producer SBTRKT, one of Peterson's current favourites.
