Part of the massive Shibuya redevelopment project, the highly anticipated Shibuya Stream complex is now open. It's a spacious facility created to rejuvenate the Shibuya riverside, while offering a new venue for people to relax and dine in the heart of one of Tokyo's buzziest neighbourhoods.

The spacious entrance is perfect for that photo op

Set along a section of the Shibuya River just a few minutes' walk from Shibuya Station, the new complex is home to a wealth of restaurants and cafés, as well as a hotel, event hall and new office spaces. You find the impressive 'Spanish steps' right at the entrance, while the eateries along the ground floor feature spacious indoor and outdoor seating. There's an alfresco space too, which will be hosting events such as a monthly market and seasonal festivals. To check what's coming up next, visit Shibuya Stream's event calendar here

The many cafés, restaurants and bars at Shibuya Stream are spread across four levels, and you'll have a wide variety to choose from. Go for the juicy American-style burgers at The Great Burger Stand; soba and izakaya fare at Suju Indigo; classic Japanese combo of rice and dashi at Bonta & Bonito; or reasonable omakase sushi at Sushi Tokyo Ten. If you're looking for an Instagram spot, check out the seating area at Lemonade by Lemonica, which is fitted with swings set against a cool and vibrant wall.

Have a swing with your drink

Needless to say, there's a lot to keep you occupied here in this new Shibuya landmark, and it's nice to find a hangout spot with a bit more space in the perennially crowded Shibuya. You'll be seeing us a lot around here in the near future.
