Tokyo is paradise for Pokémon enthusiasts, offering everything from a Pokémon theme park and Pokémon Centers to themed cafés serving up Pokémon-inspired drinks. So why not take your Pokémon obsession one step further and score a stylish Tokyo memento that’s both fun and functional: an instant Polaroid camera?

Polaroid and Pokémon, two iconic names in photography and entertainment, are joining forces for the first time with a collaboration launching on October 6. The collection features three Polaroid cameras inspired by Pikachu, Sylveon and Poké Balls respectively.

The most recognisable of the three is arguably the vibrant yellow Pikachu edition Polaroid Go Gen 3 instant camera, with a strap that’s designed to resemble Pikachu’s spiky tail.

Also part of the line-up is a soft pink, white and blue-coloured instant Polaroid inspired by Sylveon, the Generation 6 Fairy-type Eeveelution. The two Pokémon-inspired cameras are from the Polaroid Go Generation 3, one of the camera maker’s latest models. The Go Gen 3 was released this June and is touted as Polaroid’s smallest instant analogue camera.

Meanwhile, getting a Poké Ball makeover is the larger, more capable Polaroid Now Generation 3, which is equipped with autofocus sensors, full-size instant film output and pro tools like a tripod mount. The red-and-white instant camera, like the other two, features a large Poké Ball shutter button and comes with an aptly coloured red, black and white strap.

To go with the cameras, a special range of Pokémon x Polaroid film lets you add a little extra character to your snapshots. For the Polaroid Go, Pikachu Edition Go film features frames decorated with Pikachu in a variety of playful poses, while the Sylveon Edition film comes with frames adorned with subtle silhouettes of Sylveon, bows and Poké Balls.

For the larger Poké Ball-inspired camera, Pokémon Edition i-Type film features frames showcasing a colourful cast of Pokémon, including Bulbasaur, Charmander, Squirtle, Gengar, Umbreon, Mimikyu and more.

The collection also includes a range of Poké Ball-themed accessories. There’s a Poké Ball-design strap to leash your camera, as well as a Poké Ball-shaped case to protect the smaller Polaroid Go. And once you’ve snapped a few photos, you can display them in a Poké Ball-shaped photo album.

The aforementioned items will be released on Tuesday October 6, with pre-orders beginning on Wednesday August 26 at 12noon. Stockists include physical retailers like Kitamura Camera, Bic Camera, Yodobashi Camera, Loft, Don Quijote, Tsutaya and Baycrews, and the items are expected to be available on Amazon, too. Catch them all before it’s too late.
