Yoga getting too repetitive for you? Then how about relaxing and stretching together with some adorable felines at this rescue cat café in Kanagawa, Tokyo’s neighbouring prefecture? Called Neko Shiki, the café holds this popular workout on the third Sunday and fourth Saturday of each month at 10am.

For some this may seem a bit too early, especially since you’ll also have to make the trek all the way to Kanagawa. But you’ll be glad to know that the café is in the Mizonokuchi neighbourhood, which is only a 14-minute train ride from Shibuya Station.

Many of us may feel a bit awkward working out in a room full of strangers, but that’s where the furry felines come in. Petting and playing with the cats before and after your class will hopefully act as an icebreaker and lead to conversations with other fellow participants.

The homey, laid-back atmosphere of Neko Shiki, coupled with the relaxing music and the cats’ cute antics, could just make for one of the most enjoyable ways to work out. Oh, it’s also okay to interact with the cats during the 60-minute class (¥2,990) – as long as you can hold your Trikonasana pose while doing so.

For more information about Neko Shiki and its yoga classes, check the official website.
