Before you rush over to Haneda airport for your All Nippon Airways (ANA) flight, take note of this new rule, which affects all of the airline's domestic routes. ANA has decided to increase the cut-off time by which passengers have to pass through the security checkpoint at Terminal 2 (after the online and baggage check-in) from 15 minutes to 20 minutes. This change has been enforced since December 1.

Due to the expansion of the airport and hence the extensive ongoing renovations – in order to cater to more international flights – the walkways to the boarding gates have become longer, which affects the on-time performance of the aircrafts. This additional five minutes is to ensure that the walk to the boarding gates is smoother and more time efficient. So factor this into your travel time and don’t hold up the flight.
