The new event series 'Beton' aims to bring together the most innovative techno artists on the scene today – both domestic and international. The event's organisers are promising sounds that are everything from 'hypnotic' to 'uncompromising' to 'calculating'.
One thing that's certain is they've lined up some top-notch talent for the series debut, including an exciting newcomer on the French techno scene: Maëlstrom. Maëlstrom, whose name basically means 'total chaos', has actually been snaking around the French techno scene for years, pulling down tracks at illegal raves in warehouses, basements and open fields under different alliases. We assume his latest moniker is a reference to this seedy history, because his sound is anything but 'chaotic': it's highly contained, elaborate but focused.
Maëlstrom is joined by 13 other great acts, split between the 'Contact' space and the 'Studio X' dance floor. If you can get in before 11pm tickets are only ¥1,000.
