Time Out says

Bon-Odori is a traditional Japanese folk dance of the summer, characterised by massive community gatherings, as people dress up, eat and dance the night away. To bring this venerable Japanese communal tradition to a global audience, the Roppongi Hills Arena has decided to make Bon-Odori more contemporary and universal by combining it with disco to create a brand-new type of summer festival. The resulting Bon-Disco will be held not only in the Arena but also at a Shinto shrine and a hotel lounge. The diversity of venues and artists headlining the shows are bound to help Tokyo prepare for the even bigger summer festival that is the Tokyo 2020 Olympics next year.
