Montreux Jazz Festival Japan: Rainbow Disco Club

Taking place as part of the month-long Montreux Jazz Festival Japan festivities, this mini-version of the annual Rainbow Disco Club festival hits Liquidroom with force: top honours are given to crate-digging, cosmic-funk London disco duo Psychemagik, but utterly groovy Canadian mix champion Eddie C might actually be the highlight of the night. A master at taking elements of other people's music and making them his own, he's now based in Berlin after spending the better part of a decade looking for inspiration somewhere in the Canadian Rockies. Having cultivated a rough-cut, highly recognisable sound over the years, he's now one of the very biggest names in the genre.
