Offering an alternative to Japan’s major dance festivals since 2009, self-styled underground party Rural is gearing up for its tenth anniversary next year. While you wait for that summer 2018 highlight, do make sure to check out this one-night festival offshoot at Unit. Taking on the Daikanyama club will be insatiable record digger and one-of-a-kind chain-smoking DJ Lena Willikens, with the Cologne-based spinner set to perform both a regular set and an experimental live one – the latter together with video artist Sarah Szczesny. Other highlights include San Francisco’s DJ Mozhgan and Lights Down Low (Richie Panic and Corey Sizemore), plus Tokyo’s very own Sapphire Slows, who is riding high on the back of new mini-LP Time.
