One of the finest representatives of the gauzy, trance-style techno propagated by German label Kompakt, trailblazing Swedish producer Axel Willner combines simplistic beats with pop and rock samples, pushing the boundaries of electronic music while engaging fans of genres like indie rock as well. The material on his latest Japan tour is likely to lean heavily on April release The Follower, The Field's new, familiarly competent fifth studio disc. Kompakt label mate Hiroshi Watanabe aka Kaito is also DJing in the main room, along with ambient maverick DJ Yogurt.
