In its prime, Club Zanzibar in Newark, New Jersey was held in the same esteem as New York's more famous Studio 54 and Paradise Garage – and Tony Humphries came to be known as its king. As a resident DJ at the club's weekend parties during the '80s, he helped define the sound of US Garage, though his mixes would frequently stretch to include the likes of Talking Heads and The B-52s. These days, you're more likely to find Humphries playing marathon nostalgia sessions with fellow grey-hairs David Morales and Louie Vega under the 3 Kings of House moniker, and although this appearance at Contact is unlikely to push many boundaries, it'll take some beating in the party stakes.
