Ringgo Ancheta aka Mndsgn (pronounced Mind Design) grew up without access to electricity in the New Jersey countryside, where his Filipino parents had moved after going into exile in the US in the late 1980s. Young Ringgo got his introduction to hip hop and recording in his teens, and soon kicked off a career that later saw him move to LA and sign with Stones Throw Records. 2014 debut Yawn Zen was a lo-fi jewel that hovered between trip hop and abstract beats, while 2016's Body Wash saw Mndsgn take it up yet another notch by incorporating classic R&B and boogie funk influences. This Tokyo edition of the Soulection-run Trap Soul party sees Ancheta joined by vocalist Joyce Wrice and LA-based Tokyo native starRo.
