As it marks its 90th anniversary this December, the classic Hotel New Grand celebrates by turning its famous lobby on the second floor into a 'twilight lounge' through August 31. They'll be serving drinks like whiskey toddies (¥1,500), supposedly brought to Japan by Commander Perry who forced the opening of Yokohama Port in 1854, and put on live music performances to colour the night. Sounds like the perfect opportunity to hang out in this fancy space, which is decorated in ’30s Art Deco style and boasts views of Yamashita Park across the road. The opening hours are irregular, so best call ahead before visiting.
