Award-winning Minami no Shima pork from Miyazaki prefecture is the attraction at this tonkatsu (pork cutlet) eatery in Kagurazaka. Aged for a longer period than standard pork, this brand product gives off a mellow aroma and is deliciously lean and soft, but still maintains a strong flavour that's best combined with some sea salt (available at the counter). You'll have a to pay a premium price for premium product though – the popular toku rosukatsu set meal goes for ¥2,150.

The ton katsu (I tried the Hirei cut) is very good, but I have to say that the service was not at all good.  They served two miso soupd and two rices to our party of five right away, and for the next 45 minutes they pieces came out of the kitchen willy- nilly.  People were served a main dish without rice or soup, and so on.  It was not crowded, ether so there is no excuse.
