Goodbye greasy burgers, welcome fancy Spanish bocadillos stuffed with cured Jamón Ibérico. Hiroo’s shopping arcade recently welcomed a new food truck specialising in high-quality ham. Freshly cut to order by cortadors – artisans skilled in cutting said pork to optimal thickness, temperature and angle – the cured ham is stuffed into sandwiches right in front of you at this cute white truck that brings a slice of Spain to Tokyo.
The new alfresco dining venue is an offshoot of Atrevío in nearby Azabu-Juban, a jamoneria that also offers authentic Spanish cuisine centred on Iberian ham, albeit with a different menu. Alongside the bocadillos made with thick Japanese shokupan toast slices, expect to find small snacks like piping hot truffle cheese potato fries and packaged ham slices on the menu.
