We're never opposed to new health-conscious cafés opening within walking distance from the office, especially if they're as comfy and unpretentious as Earlybird. Set up right next to Hiroo Station's exit 3 in February 2016, this spacious spot puts the nutrional emphasis squarely on fruit and veg, serving pita sandwiches with falafel or mackerel, voluminous salads and other figure-friendly dishes all day long. The lunch sets (available 11.30am-3pm) are particularly good value: sandwiches come with a small salad and veggie soup for ¥1,100, while a drink and side of bread can be added for a couple hundred more. We also liked the 'daily fruit' choice for ¥300 – beats a pack of cut pineapple from the konbini every time.
