UPDATE: Canteen Station closed down permanently at the end of 2016.
Kanda was blessed with new life, funky vibes and tasty grub in early summer 2016, when a handful of colourful trucks rolled into the neighbourhood and set up this street food outpost just a few steps from the station. Set to host up to half a dozen food trucks, Canteen Station is open all day from Monday to Saturday, so you can both check it out on your lunch break and stop by for a post-work beer. Make sure to also keep an eye on the nearby walls: the organisers are hoping to decorate them with street art later on.
As of late November, the food truck selection includes +84 Banh Mi & Vietnam Coffee by Mobile Canteen, chicken over rice purveyor Green Mountain, Belgian-style frites shop Tasty Gaarden, hot dog specialists Big Dog, eclectic 'mobile izakaya' Moving Kitchen, beer and sausage dealer Poulet and nikomi (beef tendon stew) shack Akaneko.
