Don't be surprised to see your plate filled to the brim with sauce at this unique Shinjuku pasta joint. More 'soup spaghetti' than orthodox pasta, Ivo's creations include the popular Zetsubo ('Despair', ¥1,200), a concoction that draws its peculiar taste from olives. It looks far better than it sounds, though, with an aromatic red sauce exhibiting hints of garlic as well as olives. Perhaps the name refers to what a hungry patron feels like after hearing that the dish has sold out for the day – a not infrequent occurrence.
