Time Out says

Open the door to Metal Meshi and your eyes will immediately be drawn to the joyfully blasphemous version of Da Vinci’s The Last Supper behind the counter seats. Spot Ozzy Osbourne as Jesus Christ surrounded by his disciples – members of Metallica and Guns N’ Roses – and take a moment to marvel at the iconography of a mural that doubles as a love letter to rocking hard.

Owner Yasunario is a massive metalhead, the author of a cookbook also titled Metal Meshi and a talented chef whose dishes pack a punch, are artfully plated and never not appropriately christened. Our favourites include the Whitesnake, a spaghetti gratin loaded with cheese; the Hate Crew Deathroll Chicken Over Rice (does what it says on the tin); and the canned mackerel drizzled with blood-red chilli oil and vinegar.

A local living room where lifers mingle with casuals drawn in by the stylish exterior, Metal Meshi is worth a stop even for non-metalheads – just be sure to come hungry.
