Chef Sadananda and his team prepare sophisticated, vegetarian Indian delicacies that are so good you’ll never ask where the meat went. The original restaurant in Ogikubo may be funkier and more casual, but this newer branch near Gaienmae is far more accessible. The Ginza outlet is suitably glitzy.

I visited the Nataraj in Ogikubo, for their vegetarian curry lunch buffet.
I was quite impressed at such a wholesome, complete buffet meal for only ¥1000 or so.
Self-serve, more helpings okay, too!
There were at least three vegetarian curries: some with lentils/ dhal / chickpeas / beans, others with spinach or non-legume veggies.
Choice of naan & rice provided the full range of legume & grain, vital-amino acids so necessary for vegetarian protein.
Rounding out the buffet were raw veg salad, dessert, and coffee/ chai beverages.
The atmosphere was spacious, leisurely and most satisfying.
Nataraj is very conveniently located within a minute
or two S. Exit of Ogikubo station, just a few meters off the cobblestone shotengai. It's under a yoga-school and a few doors away from Kaldi import-foods shop. Handy!
