This traditional sweet maker, not far from Mejiro Station, is still one of Tokyo's most popular spots for kakigori (shaved-ice desserts). And deservedly so: doused in syrup laden with real fruit (an all-too-rare sight), these summertime treats look good and taste even better. A selection of savoury dishes such as vegetable curry and onigiri complements the dessert lineup, and you can also pick up sweets like Shimura's signature tsukumo mochi at the ground-floor shop.
