Kita-Senju up in Adachi is the unlikely home of Sunny Diner, one of the pioneers in Tokyo's gourmet burger scene. Operating in colourful, West Coast-style surrounds since 2005, Masaru Sekine's comfy joint now also runs two offshoot eateries in the neighbourhood and has maintained its popularity in the face of ever-stiffening competition. The patties here are made with top-quality domestic beef and served between buns from local bakery Furansu-ya, along with vegetables delivered fresh daily. Make sure to also try Sunny Diner's famous fries; crispy and sprinkled with just the right amount of salt, these are seriously irresistible.
