You'll be surprised that the recipes at this Sugamo institution haven't changed in the past five centuries. Go for the beef stew (¥1,998) cooked in the restaurant's famous demi-glace sauce, or the juicy hamburg steak (¥1,350) – which happen to be the two favourites since their establishment in 1964. For those with a sweet tooth, round off your hearty meal with a classic Japanese cream anmitsu (syrup-covered bean jam and fruit; ¥734).
