Over the decade or so since its opening, this unpretentious and comfy tempura joint has earned a strong following in Nishi-Shinbashi. Lightly fried in a mellow blend of cottonseed and sesame oils, Osaka's superb ingredients – selected fresh straight from Tsukiji – make for wonderfully flavourful but not overly heavy fare. We're big fans of the plump seafood, which can be seasoned with pink Pakistani rock salt for an extra kick. Book a seat at the warmly lit counter and get ready for an evening of both culinary and social entertainment – the chef's light-hearted conversation is sure to make for a nice ice-breaker on a first date.
