As experts of fermentation (miso, soy sauce, natto, pickles, sake), it’s hardly surprising that Japanese cooks have also mastered the art of bread-making. Joining the regular weekend farmers' market at UNU, more than 80 artisans from across the country gather outside the UN University to showcase their products. Try traditional bread offerings like baguettes, pain de campagne and croissants, as well as new creative fusions that speak of their respective makers’ passion and expertise. The baked goods here will undoubtedly be some of the best you’ll find in Japan – and arguably, the world.
