Taiyaki usually come in the same fish-shaped mould, but the ones at Kashoan are slightly different. These cute little fishies come in a circular shape with the fish all curled up, which means you’ll get equal amounts of cake and red bean paste in each bite. These sweet treats are made with simple ingredients. Just flour, egg and honey to make sure the outer layer is fluffy and crisp, with your choice of a simple red bean paste (¥210), mochi (¥230), chestnut (¥250) or a seasonal filling. You’ll also find other Japanese treats like dorayaki, daifuku and cookies, too.
