Found a quick walk from Gotanda Station, Pain Aux Fous is both a bakery/café and a full-on French bistro. The latter is particularly impressive, with big windows providing ample natural light and a Burgundy-focused menu offering hearty dishes like the traditional oeufs en meurette, which is poached eggs served with red wine-based sauce. Eaten mixed and with toasted bread, this is a simple but highly wine-compatible choice. If you'd prefer a lighter version, their tomato sauce dishes come with plentiful veg – just don't overdo it with the époisses cheese. The weekday lunch sets come with salad, all-you-can-eat bread and coffee – a very good deal at ¥1,000.
