Established in 1940, this store specialises in art materials, providing everything from paints and brushes to frames. The flagship Shinjuku store towers over the Koshu Kaido, near Shinjuku-Sanchome Station, but the brand has expanded and now occupies 12 different locations, mainly in Tokyo. As you'd expect, the main branch boasts the best selection of products, with an overwhelming range of reasonably priced arty items spread over six floors.

This is a wonderful art supply store and stationer. Thousands of pens, brushes and other art implements, inks, paints and papers of many kinds. If you need art supplies in Tokyo this is paradise. I went looking for a variety of brush pens to use on a particular project and found everything I wanted and much more.
Although I have very littler Japanese I was able to hunt down everything I wanted with assistance from friendly staff.
