This complex sits pretty out in Toyosu, only a short six minutes from Ginza on the Yurakucho line, and accessible by the water bus which departs from Odaiba. It brings together all the big names in retailing with its collection of 185 stores such as Tokyu Hands, with plenty of restaurants to boot. Clothing brands such as Uniqlo, Lacoste and Zara ensure that the whole family can be kitted out. And there's even other fun to be had aside from shopping: check out United Cinemas Toyosu with its 12 screens, KidZania Tokyo, the first 'work and experience town' built for kids in Japan, and the city’s biggest lawn area, Dog Run.

Oktoberfest in Urbandock Lalaport Toyosu

One of Tokyo's three German beer fest spin-offs this autumn (including Shiba Park and Jingu-Gaien), Munich Oktoberfest kicks off on September 19 at Urban Dock LaLaport Toyosu. This beer extravaganza at least manages to fall within a few weeks of the original German beer-fuelled festival it's copying, running from September 19 until October 13. As with all the other Oktoberfests in town, you can enjoy pints of German beer served in glasses that can fill up to a litre, alongside bratwurst and sauerkraut. There will be oompah bands to sweeten the mood. Entry is free and you can pay as you go. Do note that the event is cashless; you can only pay via credit card, PayPay, IC card, QuicPay, ID and other forms of electronic payment.
