Shinjuku's premier coffee specialist draws you in with the aromatic beans (both roasted and fresh) sold at the entrance, while the shop interior is littered with countless coffee-related contraptions – from hand-driven coffee grinders to espresso machines and roasters, plus spare parts for all of the above. And as a tribute to its predecessor, a tea leaf shop, the basement stocks a plentiful selection of black and herbal tea alongside various tea-related implements. The owner, Yamamoto-san, is something of a walking coffee encyclopedia and happily welcomes the recent revaluation of quality coffee – and the influx of young customers it has brought.
