If you're looking to have a mod suit made in Japan, there's no better place to go than this Umegaoka classic. The subculture experienced a sudden boom among local musicians and DJs in the 1990s, and it wouldn't be an exaggeration to say that just about all of the Japanese artists who made the mod suit their stage uniform – including the Tokyo Ska Paradise Orchestra and the late Thee Michelle Gun Elephant – had their tailoring done here. Although the original proprietor passed away recently, his son has taken up the banner. Don't be taken aback by the store’s scruffy exterior: the quality is unquestionable.
