The annual Honolulu Marathon is going virtual this year. Although many participants won’t have the opportunity to run the famous course along the scenic Hawaiian coast, runners can compete online, discovering new places and routes in their neighbourhood while completing the race. The event is open to all levels, offering three distances including the 1.6km Kalakaua Merrie Mile, 10km run and walk, and the 42.195km full marathon, which can be completed over multiple days. Finishers must submit screenshots from their running app, or a picture of their completed treadmill distance and will receive a commemorative T-shirt and medal as a reward.
The virtual marathon will be held until 6.59pm (JST) on December 31 and registration will be open until tickets are sold out.
