Curious about rakugo, the traditional form of funny storytelling that's Japan's answer to stand-up comedy? Now's your chance to get an effective introduction to the art at Shinjuku's Kinokuniya bookstore, which recently expanded its foreign-language books section. Taking place at the seventh-floor Southern Theatre, this rakugo night will see appearances by three performers, namely Kaishi Katsura, Michiyo Kagami and Diane Kichijitsu, one of the very few foreigners in the rakugo profession. All performances are in English too – a true rarity.
