The official monikers 'circus in hell', 'gigantic freak show' and 'bizarre, kinky entertainment' accurately describe this annual festival of the grotesque. Returning to Differ Ariake in September, Sadistic Circus has been attracting fetishists since 2002, evolving into quite a spectacle over the years. The 2017 edition will see international guests in the form of burlesque artists Mimi Le Noire and Veronica Waite, Australia's own Ladybeard and Norwegian sideshow extremists Pain Solution join homegrown talent from maso-troupe Gokiburi Konbinat to rope artist Ageha Asagi.
